The Suomussalmi House Museum is beautifully located on the shore of Lake Kianta, in the area of Kirkkoniemi. Founded in 1967, the museum preserves local heritage and passes on traditional knowledge. Its extensive collection of artifacts and spacious yard area reflect everyday life in 19th- and 20th-century Kainuu.
